Ukrainian billionaires, according to Forbes magazine ranking, increased their fortune 2.1 times as much and went a couple dozens and hundreds positions up at the list. There are 7 Ukrainians on the list and their names have remained the same. All in all according to the results in 2007 the number is record – 1125 people on the planet possess fortune exceeding $1 billion.
The fortune of the richest person in Ukraine Rinat Akhmetov, according to Forbes, has increased from $4 billion up to $7.3 billion. Now he places 127 position in world list of the richest people, while last year he placed 214 place, UNIAN reports.
Viktor Pinchuk is at 203th position with his $5 billion. He has added to his treasure. Last year he took 323 place with a fortune of $2.8 billion.
Ihor Kolomoyskyi has gone up from 799 place up to 253. His fortune has increased from $1.2 billion to 4.2.
Hennadiy Boholyubov has become richer as well. If last year he placed 799 place and possessed a fortune of $1.2 billion, he is now at 260th place with $4 billion.
Konstantin Zhevago placed 327 place with a fortune of $3.4 billion. He took 891 place last year with $1 billion.
The average fortune of the richest people in the world is $3.9 billion, which is by $250 million than a year earlier.
Billionaires have become “younger” – their average age decreased to 61 years old. The joint fortune of all the billionaires of the world, according to Forbes’ calculations, constituted $4.4 trillion, the first TOP-10 richest people’s joint fortune equals to $426 billion.
Mark Zuckerberg became the youngest billionaire on earth and possibly the youngest self-made billionaire ever, according to Forbes. Tech's newest golden boy founded addictive social-networking site Facebook in February 2004 from his Harvard dorm room. He left school for Silicon Valley that year. Microsoft paid $240 million last October for a 1.6% stake, giving the company an implied valuation of $15 billion. Some analysts and a few Facebook investors think that's high. We think Zuckerberg's stake is worth $1.5 billion.
Warren Buffett is the richest man on the planet. Riding the surging price of Berkshire Hathaway stock, America's most beloved investor has seen his fortune swell to an estimated $62 billion, up $10 billion from a year ago. That massive pile of scratch puts him ahead of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, who was the richest man in the world for 13 straight years.
Gates is now worth $58 billion and is ranked third in the world. He is up $2 billion from a year ago, but would have been perhaps as rich - or richer - than Buffett had Microsoft not made an unsolicited bid for Yahoo! at the beginning of February.
Microsoft shares fell 15% between Jan. 31, the day before the company announced its bid for the search engine giant, and Feb. 11, the day we locked in stock prices for the 2008 World's Billionaires list. More than half of Gates' fortune is held outside of Microsoft shares.
Mexican telecom tycoon Carlos Slim Helú is the world's second-richest man, with an estimated net worth of $60 billion. His fortune has risen $11 billion since last March.
