Ukrainian boxer Volodymyr Klichko, holding the IBF champion title in super heavy weight refused to hold a combined fight with Russian Oleg Maskayev who possesses the WBC belt. American Ray Ostin will become another Klichko junior’s rival.
Ukrainian boxer decided to hold the IBF title defense against Ostin who is a compulsory challenger. We remind that the negotiations on a fight Maskayev vs. Klichko held for the last several weeks, but the fight which could have taken place in Moscow on April 21, won’t take place at all.
Thus, the winner of the fight planned on January 6 between Samuel Peter (Nigeria) and James Toney (USA) is likely to be the next Oleg Maskayev’s rival. One of these boxers will get the status of the WBC compulsory challenger and will be able to contest the title from Maskayev, is during the negotiations the parties manage to avoid irrepressible conflicts, reports “UNIAN”.
As for Volodymyr Klichko, he hasn’t signed the contract to the fight with Ostin yet, but the representatives of the boxer have already stated that the fight will take place on March 10, 2007 in Germany.
