The Olympic Committee of Asia deprived Indian athlete Santhi Soundarajan from her silver medal at Asian Games 2006 after she failed to pass gender test.
As Lenta.ru reports, the representatives of Indian Olympic Committee confirmed, that they are entitled to return the medal given to Santhi Soundarajan.
We remind that on December 9 25 year-old sportsman finished the second at 800 race at the competitions in Doha. After the race the athlete was put through the dope test, and the results bringing about suspicion of the medical team of Asian Games.
The gender test carried out afterwards proved that Santhi Soundarajan is a man. Indian sports authorities promised to carry out the investigation of the incident.
To the revised results the holder of the silver medal became Victoriya Yakovleva from Kazakhstan, while Zamira Amirova (Uzbekistan) received the bronze.
