The first match of Ukrainian national team in an elimination round of the championship of Europe turned out not to be easy. Ukraine played with the team of Georgia. The match resulted in score 3:2 in favour of the Ukrainians. Moreover, Oleg Blokhin’s pupils have kicked all the three goals with their heads.
Spot.com.ua site calls Ukraine-Georgia match a ‘real thriller’. “Claus Topmeller’s players have got on our nerves, as they managed not only to retrieve their defeat, but also they came forward and didn’t lose up to 78th minute of the match. The match which the Oleg Blokhin’s team should only win taking into account other rivals in groupe B, as we all know”, writes the author of the article.
Forwarder Andriy Schevchenko sent the ball into rivals’ gate on the 31th minute. But after the two resultative kicks were in favour of Georgia on 37th and 60th minutes. But Ukrainians have retrieved a defeat. Schevchenko made a penalty kick and Rotan sent the ball with his head. It happened right a minute later after the second goal of the rivals.
The resultative goal to the Georgian gate was made by Rusol on 78th minutes.
At the after-match press conference published on the Spot.com.ua site Ukraine team coach Oleg Blokhin noted at once that the first matches of any championship are always difficult and twitchy.
“We had minor problems in the game, we tried to fix them as soon as possible. On the whole, I think that sideliners liked the game, especially its second time, when the teams played on the head-on course. I believe, that both the national team of Ukraine and the national team of Georgia deserved to be winners today. But we still had an advantage: as I have said, after the world championship our team got psychological stability”, said the coach.
He said that now our team is expected to fight with problems in performing the game, especially in the defense, where “an acute shortage of players can be noticed”.
”We were bogged down in cross passes on that swampy field. In the first time we didn’t manage to pass on from defense to attack, besides foozle was quite high in passes. But of course, not to kick the ball from the distance on the field like this is a great flaw. However from other hand, I am quite satisfied with that we shoot goals from the regular distance”, outlined Oleg Blokhin.
The next match in the championship of Europe Ukraine is plying with the Italian national team.
