According to the ranking of Ukraine’s best cities made up by Focus magazine, Ivano-Frankovsk is considered to be most attractive to live in. It is followed by Kyyiv, and Dnipropetrovsk, Ternopil and Chernovtsy sharing the third position.
Kharkiv placed 26th position in the general ranking.
All in all, 50 cities-candidates took part in the ranking. All of them are regional centers, megalopolises, young cities built specially for employees of nuclear heating plants. The participants were evaluated to 50-point scale and in accordance with 11 criteria, among which were infrastructure development, crime rate, ecological situation, tourist attractiveness, unemployment rate, average salary. During the evaluation, information of official statistics in every city, ministries involved was used.
The capital received lowest points for expensive dwelling and unsatisfied ecological situation.
Except for undisputable tourist attractiveness, Ivano-Frankovsk is noticeable for its relatively low crime rate.
Ivano-Frankovsk is suitable for living and due to quite cheap housing. A square meter in new construction apartments costs around $1000, while its average cost at second market constitutes $740.
In the scope of the research several participants were noted in additional nominations. Kyyiv became the most attractive city of Ukraine for investments. Pereyaslav-Khelnytkyi – is considered to be the most pollution-free town with most cheap housing, Odessa has the lowest rate of unemployment, Symferopol was noted for the cheapest public utilities, Kolomyia (Ivano-Frankovsk region) – is the safest town, Energodar (Zaporizhzhya region) has the most developed infrastructure, while Sudak is a town with highest cultural potential.
To the opinion of Focus website visitors, the best cities are Kyyiv (30.6%), Lviv (10.6%), Odessa (4.9%), Kharkiv (4.1%), Dnipropetrovsk (3% of votes).
