Today is the last Thursday before the Easter, the orthodox called it Holy or Shear, as it is accepted to cleanse the soul with prayers before the Anastasis. Thus, the Christians remember of carnal sufferings of Jesus Christ, who was taken prisoner and was tormented right on this day.
Traditionally all the preparations start on Holy Thursday in monasteries. It is considered, that one has to get up right before the dawn and from the very morning cleanse the soul and heart with prayers. Only after this one can set to dying eggs and Easter cakes cooking.
