Jews in all of the world remember about miracle. Chanukah – a Judaic holiday commemorating the liberation of Jerusalem - has started.
Jewish families will light their candles and cook a special treat – oil fried doughnuts-sufganiets.
To the legend, more than two thousand years ago Syrian king Antiochus demolished Jerusalem Temple. To light the destroyed temple, Jews needed oil for lamps. A bowel was found in which there was oil enough for a day only. However a miracle happened – lamps were lit during 8 days.
Every night, till the end of the week a candle will be lit in Jewish houses. To the tradition, women rest throughout these days, while children receive presents and small money.
