Day patient facility for elderly and impecunious people opened in Merefa town. This is the second stage of a project of medical and social care for the citizens of Kharkiv district. In the end of the last year Red Cross Society has bought a wheeled hospital. Now people can get the first medical care in a new center. Doctors say that there is all necessary equipment.
Two wards for ten people, consultation room and examination room. This is not hospital but the day patient facility, the authors of project, representatives of Red Cross and «Philip Morris Ukraine» tell. It’s not necessarily to come here to be treated.
Konstantin Bashkirov, the head of the regional Red Cross Society: “This is the day patient facility. If someone comes for examination he should have a rest. We don’t substitute the functions of a medicine, we contribute and assist maximally. I’m sure that we should do much more along with public health service”.
Red Cross Society representatives say that medical and social center in Merefa was created for impecunious and elderly people. The doctors of higher category – personnel of the Institute of Urgent Surgery and the Regional Clinical hospital – are working here. There are all necessary things for the emergency medical care in the center.
Yevgeny Yatsenko, the specialist of ultrasonic examination: “We have all that is essential for the qualified medical care. We have an electrocardiograph that gives an opportunity to examine the state of heart’s action and the visceral organs”.
There is not any special equipment for the elderly patients, the personnel of a new center say. Mostly these people just need the care and attention of doctors.
