Elections in March 2006 in Kharkiv region could fail. Kharkiv regional authorities are afraid of this. The reasons of these fears are not political, but technical. As the Kharkiv Vice Governor Sergey Storozhenko reported today, the region lacks 5 thousand of personnel to work in district commissions.
Storozhenko told that only 15 political blocks and parties gave their representatives for working in district commissions in election-2206, though 43 political forces have been registered in region.
At this he stressed that people refuse to work in commissions not at command of political parties but of their own free will.
“In my opinion, the district commissions are staffed with people who are not prepared by political parties and blocks. It is necessary to work in district commission, not to sit at the tables. The first reason of this situation is not-preparedness of party representatives for work in district commissions”, Sergey Storozhenko said.
A shortage of stuff on many electoral districts can be the reason for the results of voting may be declared invalid, and this exposes to a risk all the voting process in region.
At that Sergey Storozhenko admitted that he “has no weighty argument to say about intentional frustration of elections”.
