Slobozhanskyi agricultural works, one of the biggest in Ukraine producers of meat, is folding producing meat. Director of the works Borys Danyliv told MediaPort, that by the end of the year he is going to reduce pig population as less as three times – up to 20 thous.
Director explains – there is getting less and less cattle, as the enterprise spares the central ground for the reconstruction. The equipment is over 30 years old already – modernization is needed.
At the same time, Borys Danyliv doesn’t deny: the time for the reconstruction wasn’t selected by chance – still a year ago the production was quite profitable, so modernization was put off all the time.
The manager of the enterprise state, today the cattle is becoming less and less all the time, prices for food and energy have increased, while it appears to be impossible to raise prices for meat: works buy cheap import meat which get to the country through free economic areas. The reconstruction is planned for a year and a half, and after that, Danyliv is sure, Slobozhanskyi will be able to restore the cattle population.
The head of the Chuhuyev regional administration Yuriy Prav, meat production in the region has reduced by 40% within a year. Reconstruction at Slobozhanskyi works – this is minus workplaces and tax receipts, plus problems with works infrastructure, local authorities forecast.
At present Slobozhanskyi enterprise has to refuse some of its property and give to village council. There is no money for preparation to winter time in village and district budgets, Yuriy Prav insists.
