Kharkiv airport is planning to finish year 2006 with 50-million hryvnyas profit. Yesterday Director of the aircraft public enterprise “International Airport Kharkiv” Vitaliy Bura reported of this at the meeting of the standing commission of the City Council on planning, budget and financing.
In 2003 this enterprise was in the state of the readjustment , while in 2004 it was unprofitable. Last year, as it was stated at the commission, the number of passengers departed increased by 34.3% comparing to 2004, and for 9 months of the current year the passengers flow has constituted 41%, reports the official site of the City Executive Committee.
Vitaliy Bura also said, that today Kharkiv airport executes flights to Kyyiv, Moscow, Yerevan, Tbilisi, Baku, Varna, Vienna, Istanbul, Antalya, Dusseldorf, Tel-Aviv; the airport plans to resume flights to Odessa, Lviv, Symferopol in summer time. In 2006 the number of flights has increased by 49.7% comparing to the similar period of 2005.
The increasing need in air carriages has revealed the problems which is necessary to solve in the near future. Director of the airport informed deputies of the standing commission, that at the present stage the airport is still in need of the investor concerned. There is a need of capital to construct a new passenger terminal with handing capacity no less than 400 passengers per hour (the airport existing today can handle only 100 passengers).
”We have a pre-project documentation made by “Ukragroproekt” Kyyiv institute and Ministry of Transport of Ukraine, the terminal with three bridges will need 24 million dollars”.
Beside that, the airport need major repair of the runway (12-14 million hryvnyas is needed for that), as its last reconstruction was made in 1995.
At this moment the administration of the enterprise is preparing the addressing to Kharkiv city mayor, detailing the situation emerged, as well as outlining proposals on regeneration of the airport, which have been worked out together with Ministry of Transport and specialists in Kyyiv.
Information. Aircraft public enterprise “Internatiol Airport Kharkiv” consists of a runway of 2220 metres long, able to receive aircraft “Yak-42”, “Boeing 737”, “Airbus-320” with limitations. The infrastructure of the enterprise also includes cargo-handling complex of 1300 tons capacity and a hotel for 114 rooms.
