Fare in Kharkovian underground may become the most expensive in Ukraine – 85 kopecs per token. Municipal authorities have decided to raise fares today. However it is the governor who has the last word.
The Metro’s request to raise fares have been stood for unanimously in the city hall. 85 kopecs is a compromise, the Head of economy and public utility property Mykhaylo Fateyiv explains, in reality underground wanted to fix hryvnya. Today a trip of a passenger costs 75 kopecs.
Ten kopecs of extra charges will be used to buy new carriages and pay-gates. The head of the city Mykhaylo Dobkin is sure that the money will enough even for the construction of new stations.
Mykhaylo Dobkin, the city mayor, “So that every trip would safe a kopec by kopec money for the construction of new stations. If this project has been confirmed at the level of one hryvnya, we would get still this year our own funds of about 20 million hryvnyas to construct underground”.
Fare for students will remain unchanged, Metro promises to keep the benefits – on its own expenses.
A new fare is coming into force only after the governor’s decision – disposition of growing fares are to be signed by Arsen Avakov.
