Plaits, back combing, ultrashort hairdos, ragged bangs and tidy curls. Everything is in fashion. There are no tendencies, hair designers say. Kharkiv has hold festival of hairdressing art.
Everybody can show what he can. Sophisticated hairdos created for several hours and trivial ponytails made in a moment – the jury estimate not the complexity, but the idea.
Karyna Kholod, model, “It is a street fashion, the hairdo is gangland…fey”.
Natasha Hlazova, model, “I don’t know the name of my hairdo, but I think you’ll see it during the show and you’ll be surprised”.
Masters call the festival as the holiday of self-expression. No limitations in color, length or form. Everything is allowed – backcombing a la 80s and ultramodern ragged bangs – the clients endure any. The tendencies of the coming year are colors and forms close to natural ones.
Yuriy Yushenko, stylist, “The volume has changed – evolving not upwards only, but to all sides. The shine has changed – now it is dimmer. Colors have changing too – they are becoming more caramel and not so bright, not contrast coloring. Everything has changed – this is fashion».
Italian stylists are special guests of the festival. They assure that fashion is no more than new techniques. While style, especially hairdos, - are things extremely individual. And if a grandma’s chignon suits you – go ahead!
Orlando Orlandi, Italian stylist, “Fashion is always in search. Fashion is revealing something which is both suitable and beautiful”.
Masters get offended while addressed as “hairdressers” – they prefer “stylist” or “hair designer” more. They say it is more up-to-date. They explain the difference – a hairdresser works with scissors, while a hair designer uses his head.
