Boys and girls are in equal in rights – consider 9-year-old Kharkovian girl Yaroslava Nudnova. She won international contest of children’s drawing about gender equality.
Yaroslava Nodnova, artist (drawing), “It will be the Earth”.
The Earth. There is with a desk with pupils at it. Astronauts hold the globe.
Yaroslava Nudnova, artist, “The significance is not in an astronaut, but in his sex. Males come first. There will be no Earth without them. As well as without females.
Yaroslava paints equality, although she admits: still in elementary school she noticed some inequality. For example, during lessons of physical training – teachers demand more from boys.
Yaroslava Nudnova, artist, “We learn. Both boys and girls have equal chances to become an astronaut or anybody else”.
Yaroslava draws a lot: generally characters from favorite cartoons and books for children. She has a try at portrait – but it is the only one so far – Merilyn Monroe is still left unfinished. The girl can’t manage to do it. She learnt to draw nowhere but during lessons of drawing at school.
The contest of drawing in gender equality was held by European commission in Ukraine. Yaroslava didn’t aim to win. Her work became the best at school, and her parents learnt about the further destiny of the drawing from journalists.
Answering the question about her future profession Yaroslava says – an artist. And she adds – free-lance artist. Her mother is skeptical about her daughter’s idea, but she hopes that the girl will grow up and change her dream.
