On Thursday a living symbol of the literature thaw of the 60s – poet Yevhen Yevtushenko. The maestro is to read poems at Karazyn University and Pushkin Theatre. The reason for the visit – is the anniversary of mass execution of Jews in Drobytskyi Yar. The author of the “Babiy Yar” poem is to take part in mourning activities.
Yevhen Yevtushenko was in Kharkiv 3 years ago, also on the eve of Drobytsyi Yar anniversity. At that time the poet failed to visit the memorial in which he is directly concerned because of the problems with his health.
In late 80s it is Yevtushenko was the organizer of the first meeting-requiem in Drobytskyi Yar. It was then that the great classic read “Drobytskyi Apple-trees”.
