Twenty performers from Russia, Moldova, Belorussia and Ukraine. The festival of popular songs named after Shulzhenko will be held in Palace of students, on November 10. Every contestant is to sing a song from the repertoire of the famous Kharkovian, the festival will be started and ended with the same theme – a fragment from the “Blue Handkerchief” song.
Photos and playbills of Claudiya Shulzhenko are on the screens of Palace of Students, her personal belongings are in the foyer: the organisers wanted to restore the spirit of the epoch.
Feliks Chemerovskyi, director of the festival, “The spirit of the real ace-high singer, not a day-fly, but who always sang alive, with symphonic orchestras. All the contestants are to be singing alive!”
The festival will end in gala-concert: Nani Bregvadze, Georgiy Movsesyan and Valentina Tolkunova, the judges, will come out on stage together with the performers.
Luydmila Hurchenko – the permanent member of the jury is not coming to the contest this year. The reason for that is a conflict because of the monument to the singer Hurchenko, which at first the city authorities offered to set near the Opera House, and after that refused to do that.
Those willing to come eat the festival named after Shulzhenko will be more than seats in the hall, the organisers suppose. Municipal authorities offered to hold the next contest at Maidan Svobody – on the Day of Kharkiv.
