Dunayevskyi, Shostakovych, Rykhter, Rostropovych, Khachaturyan. The autographs of these and of many other musicians, performers and actors are in the unique album. There are also words of gratitude to Kharkiv Philharmonic, orchestra and Kharkovians. For a long time it was considered to be lost and it has been found quite lately.
But for the Philharmonic Hall reconstruction, the book with autographs may have been lost for good. Yuriy Yanko, art-director and the seniour conductor, speaks with horror about it.
He says, that rumours about this unique album were in the air, but for the latest decade when Philharmonic moved from place to place - nobody had seen or hold that book. It was believed to be lost.
Yuriy Yanko, art-director and the seniour conductor of Kharkiv Philharmonic, “Well, the book is simply amazing and it is, most likely, priceless. Here, we were thumbing, a name is better than the other one on every page. You know, I am puffed up with pride for my city, for our Philharmonic Hall, for the orchestra, for other collective groups referred to above”.
From 49th to 60th year dozens of celebrities of that time and those only starting their career left their autographs in the album. For example, Svyatoslav Rykhter, when he put down his autograph in the album in year 49, he hadn’t gain the world fame yet.
Yuriy Yanko, art-director and the seniour conductor of Kharkiv Philharmonic, “I will gladly come to Kharkiv once again. (If you invite me!) That’s why I feel the real love for music here both in Philharmonic itself and the audience”.
Yuriy Yanko promises, that with time the book, to be more precise, its copy will appear at the foyer of the Hall, so that the visitors could leaf the album.
