Olha Zhahalyuk, who had fallen on Tuesday, April 8, from an attraction in Gorkyi park in Kharkiv died yesterday at an emergency hospital.
The freshman came to Kharkiv from Lviv to celebrate the day of school of physics in Karazin National University. In the evening the students from Kharkiv and Lviv went out and decided to have a ride at attractions in Gorky park. During the ride Olha slipped off Matrix attraction seat.
She was taken to emergency hospital with hepatorrhexis, arm fracture and concussion of brain. Medics were fighting for her life for two days: three operations were done. But the only organ to operate was her heart.
This morning school of physics dean in Karazin University Anatoliy Zavhorodniy said, that the girl died yesterday at hospital.
Her parents who came to Kharkiv as soon as they found out about the accident decided firmly to bury their daughter in Lviv.
Right after the accident the administration of the park assured that the girl was drunk when she went to the attraction. They supposed she stood up, breaking safety rules, and was cast out from the seat by centrifugal force.
Numerous examinations of competent bodies showed that there were no permissive documents to this attraction. And medical men never found alcohol in her blood, adding to that.
City procuracy opened a criminal case upon duty negligence to bring about drastic consequences. If being claimed guilty the offender is to be sentenced up to 5-years-term plus to pay from 1700 hryvnyas (about $340) to 4250 hryvnyas (about $850).
